Simple:

A simple logo design allows for easy recognition and allows the logo to be versatile & memorable. Good logos feature something unique without being overdrawn.

Memorable:

Following closely behind the principle of simplicity, is that of memorability. An effective logo design should be memorable and this is achieved by having a simple, yet, appropriate logo.

Timeless:                                             timelesslogodesign.gif

An effective logo should be timeless – that is, it will endure the ages. Will the logo still be effective in 10, 20, 50 years?

Versatile:

An effective logo should be able to work across a variety of mediums and applications. The logo should be functional. For this reason a logo should be designed in vector format, to ensure that it can be scaled to any size. The logo should be able to work both in horizontal and vertical formats.

Appropriate:

How you position the logo should be appropriate for its intended purpose. For example, if you are designing a logo for children’s toys store, it would be appropriate to use a childish font & colour scheme. This would not be so appropriate for a law firm.

Why are Logos so Important:

The Importance of Logo, Design and Online Branding are that Your logo is a visual cornerstone of a company’s brand. Your company’s identity is visually expressed through its logo, which along your company’s name is one of the main things that makes your business memorable and standout.

Most notorious logos from around the world:

For Example:

  • Nike
  • McDonalds
  • Adidas
  • Chrome
  • Coca Cola
  • KFC
  • Burger King
  • Shell

These are some of the many logos that can be found in this particular image. One thing I’ve noticed is  that most notorious/ noticeable logos are the simplest ideas. For example Nike, McDonalds and Pepsi all have in common is that they are all very simplistic in there design and because of that they stand out from the rest.

Now for the people that do not understand how important a good logo is and how valuable it is to their business:

WHAT IS A LOGO!

A logo’s design is for immediate recognition, inspiring trust, admiration, loyalty and an implied superiority. The logo is one aspect of a company’s commercial brand, or economic entity, and its shapes, colours, fonts, and images usually are different from others in a similar market. Logos are also used to identify organisations and other non commercial entities.

GETTING A DESIGN WITHOUT FEEDBACK!

Before approving and implementing a design, ensure you get feedback from your peers. Getting feedback on a design is a crucial part of the logo design process as it ensures that your logo is going to be successful.

Take these poor phallic logo designs below, because they didn’t realise their logos had such hidden meaning? Ensure you don’t turn out like this by getting anyone to overlook your designed logo.

WHAT IS THE COST OF A PROFESSIONAL LOGO DESIGN!

The cost of a professional logo design is a question that cannot be answered easily as every company has different needs.

A number of factors have to be taken into consideration when designing a logo, such as how many logo concepts need to be presented, how many revisions are required, how much research is needed, the size of the business and so on.

App Idea:

My idea is an app for the music. The amount of space music takes up is so infuriating so my idea is a virtual gallery that stores every song and you just type in what one you want and then select the song then listen (On your smart phone or laptop).

Other Music Apps:

  • Shazam (It is a free application that helps users figure out the name of a catchy song being played on the radio, television or other place. Users simply hold their iPhone device up to the speaker playing the music and the Shazam application will attempt to identify the tune’s album, artist and song title.)
  • Spotify (It is a new digital music service that enables users to remotely source millions of different songs on various record labels from a laptop, smartphone or other device.)
